The Building Division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the various local building codes, ordinances, and state and federal laws and rules associated with construction. These responsibilities apply to new structures, alterations, repairs and additions to existing buildings and moving buildings.
Duties also include review of applications and plans for code compliance, permit issuance and compliance inspections with the approved documents. The Building Official serves as the City's Floodplain Coordinator enforcing FEMA
regulations and documenting compliance under the Community Rating System.
In addition, the Building Division is responsible for collecting Local Business Taxes. This includes performing inspections of new and existing building locations, reviewing fire department inspection and zoning comments and mandating any compliance measures.
